Transparency

Equal access to relevant information is helpful to create equal influence in decisions.  You are likely thinking, “yes, but not _____ information.”  Four levels you may choose to explore/adopt:

  1. Access is restricted, yet available if the group/person responsible signs off on it
  2. Access is restricted to certain documents, e.g., budget, salaries, etc.
  3. Combo of 1 and 2, e.g., salaries are not available, but a performance review could be with appropriate consent/process.
  4. Access is unrestricted

Lack of information or secrecy can degrade trust and make equal input difficult.  Keeping salaries secret, for example, may make consensus impractical for any budget decisions.
